Pier and Beam Foundation Repair

Crawlspace foundation repairs:

When a home has a concrete grade beam, the perimeter can be lifted using the pressed steel or concrete piling procedure. The floors of a pier & beam house sit on beams (usually 6″ by 6″). The beams are supported by piers. The “piers” are typically either poured pre-made concrete blocks or Bois d’Arc stumps located beneath the home in the crawl space below the flooring.

Floor levels are adjusted by raising the beam off of its support and adding or removing steel shims. The support piers may need to be added or replaced if they have failed. It is often necessary on a pier & beam foundation for wood located under the floor to be replaced due to damage caused by moisture and/or insects.
